KERA Shares Our Community-Wide Mission

After years of trying, Frisco’s Pet Project couldn’t get Frisco to step up and build its own local shelter, so we have to do all we can to help Collin County Animal Services secure a spot on the County bond. Caroline Love and KERA shared our mission here. Here is the full article.

NEXT STEPS – After hours of discussion on the bond as a whole, it’s still open for future discussion during and after budget meetings and future court meeting in the coming weeks. It is not official but the Commissioners Court voted to move the Shelter’s request forward to the Bond 4 – 1 (Judge Hill was against it.) He felt that perhaps Collin County taxpayers shouldn’t have to pay for cities like Frisco, Celina, and Prosper that have part of their population in Denton County. However, even without these cities, the Shelter still needs this expansion.

The meeting today was quite lengthy and quite interesting! And, there is still a chance that opinions could change. You can watch the video at this link – https://www.collincountytx.gov/…/Commissio…/court-videos.

Our THANKS to Frisco residents Lisa Allison and Aditya Nimbalagundi for speaking up for our animals during Public Comments at the start. You made us all proud!

Please stay tuned for next steps!
